Alaska Native Heritage Center Update- they need new theater company

I’m happy to announce that we will be holding auditions for a new theater company at the Alaska Native Heritage Center . Please help me pass the word, if you would.

The yet-to-be-named company, which will focus on Native-themed pieces and new work, is open to all performers—Native and non-Native. Plans for this winter include a regular acting class with company director Ed Bourgeois and guest instructors, a week-long performance workshop in January with the directors of LA-based Mentor Artists Playwriting Project (MAPP), Readers Theater and—beginning in the summer of 2008—Dinner Theater at ANHC. Future plans include the in-house development of culturally-based new works, MAPP playwriting workshops, a winter subscription series of plays, both produced and presented, and summer outdoor drama.

Auditions will be held Saturday, October 13, 2007 at the Alaska Native Heritage Center . Time: 10 am to 4 pm. Please call for an appointment/audition time. Performers are asked to prepare a 2-3 minute monologue or just tell a story. Any subject … something that lets us know who you are.

Whether you are a seasoned performer or someone new to theater, there is a place for everyone in this company. We expect to offer a variety of both performance opportunities and training; so don’t be shy…give us a try!
